Earthworm Jim Deskmate 1.0

Earthworm Jim Deskmate is a program that will put an animated character on your desktop.

Earthworm Jim was the main character of a video game series. By installing this program, you will witness how this spacial hero runs across your screen, climbs your icons, plays accordion, sings, flies using his head as a propeller, fires his weapon, or plays with it, jumps the rope, dives to the bottom of the screen and many other funny actions. You can drag Earthworm Jim and drop him anywhere on the screen (he will say that when you are dragging him, he looks like a loser). Every action performed by Earthworm Jim will produce sounds that will be heard through your speakers. The program will place a small icon into the system tray. Right-clicking on that icon you will access the character controls, that will let you choose the action you want him to perform. You can also choose to hide the character or mute him. It is possible to set if you want this deskmate to be shown on top of every window, or not.

Personally, I found deskmates disturbing and annoying, but it seems that some people finds them funny. At least, Earthworm Jim Deskmate works smoothly, and it does not hang your system.
