DropDMG is a Mac utility that comes as an alternative to using Mac's Disk Utility application for creating DMG files. This program also enables you to encrypt, mount, and convert disk image files with just a few clicks.
DropDMG brings you a straightforward interface, supports drag-and-drop actions, and immediately creates the DMG files you need. What's more, it provides you with an option to burn the created disk image files to a DVD, CD, or Blu-ray. You can also add files to an existing CD.
Another important advantage is the fact that, besides allowing you to create DMG files, this program is also capable of compressing the imported files to formats like ZIP, TAR.GZ, LZFSE, etc.
You can use this application if you want to create a compressed backup for your documents or movies. The utility immediately generates the disk image files you need, without slowing down your Mac in the process.
All in all, DropDMG is an efficient Mac program. However, you can find cheaper or even free solutions for creating DMG files. You can either use the default Disk Utility or look for less expensive third-party tools.
