Docany PDF to Text Converter is a utility that can simplify the task of converting several PDF documents into plain-text files. The main reason why somebody would want to get rid of PDF files in favor of TXT ones is because any computer can open TXT files without using extra software. This application can open PDF files and convert them and you don't need to have any Adobe application installed. It even supports encrypted files, but you will be prompted for the open password when you import these files.

You can load files by dragging them onto the application. You can add as many as you want, and the application will take care of them all for you. You simply click on the "Start" button. According to the developers, the application will maintain the layout of the text of your PDF files when it converts them. The program is capable of partially converting a file when you tell it what pages you want to convert.

In my testing, I used two PDF files. One of them was text-based and the other one consisted of scanned pages, which means that it is not editable because it contains images instead of text. The text-based PDF was converted into text just fine. The layout of the text was maintained quite well. The other file wasn't converted at all. When I opened the resulting file, all I could see was a text thanking me for using the application.

The trial version of this app lets you convert three pages of each book that you add. It is more than enough to see if it works for you.
