Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is a great racing game for your Mac. It is currently one of the most popular games on the Mac App Store. Although the game is not new (DiRT 3 has been around for some time now), it is still a great game by itself and it can provide hours and hours of fun.
The game does a great job involving you in the rally racing experience. You will notice that after a short intro, you will step into a trailer, which will serve as your operation center. From there, you can choose what races and championships you want to compete in, see your stats, and even configure some of the game's settings.
DiRT 2 is one of those games where you enjoy driving. The experience is very smooth and the mechanics that DiRT 1 introduced are all there. Your car drifts realistically, collisions destroy your machine, and even the changes in terrain have an effect on your car's behavior.
I tested this game on a 2011 Mac Mini with integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000). I ran the game with medium settings and it looked great. I noticed some flickering here and there, but that was to be expected. The bottom line is that this game is more than playable on modern Macs. Those with dedicated graphics will experience a better performance, obviously.
In short, for 39.99 this is a great game to have. It will give you lots of happy moments and it runs great on modern Macs.
