DesignBox is a collection of simple graphical tools. With this application, you can apply filters and effects to images, paint, convert SVG files and other image formats, and create iOS icons or QR codes.
Although, at first glance, this may seem to be an advanced utility, it’s not. The painter section is much poorer in features than Microsoft Paint. The only thing GIF Maker does is that it merges some images together in a GIF file. Practically, in four out of the seven tabs found in the top toolbar, you find basic conversion tools but nothing that can help you actually design. Fortunately the first tab, named “Effect” groups some simple features that can achieve interesting effects. Here, you can change color or lighting settings (hue, R,G,B values, contrast, saturation and so on) and apply filters such as Gaussian Blur, Emboss, Gray Scale. You also have the possibility to choose specific presets and then fine-tune them, if necessary. The program makes it easier for you to decide which preset to pick because it displays a list of thumbnails which show a preview of how your image will look like when that preset is applied.
The QR Code generator deserves to be mentioned because it is quite flexible and it can create many code types, e.g. text, URL, SMS, geographic location, event details and so on.
