Design for Folder is a program designed for Mac users who wish to customize the appearance of their directories. This simple yet helpful application comes in handy if you wish to change the appearance of folders as a way to sort them on your desktop.

The utility features a wide variety of folder icon templates and dozens of clipart samples. All you need to do is drag-and-drop the directory over the app's main window, select the preferred icon template and clipart, and click the Use button from the bottom of the screen.

I like the fact that when adding clipart to your icon, the program gives you access to various visual effects and additional output configurations (adjust shadow and layout level).

This application immediately applies the folder icon changes. You cannot undo an icon alteration but you can click on the Reset button and modify the folder's image again.

All in all, Design for Folder is a simple-to-use and effective utility. The program comes with a straightforward interface, gives you access to many output configurations, and is free of charge.
