DNS2GO by Deerfield.com is a Dynamic DNS updater for Windows. When you register a domain with the DNS2Go servers, you can set this application to update your IP address on a regular basis. Thus, by telling the servers what your IP address is, you can access your computer at any time by simply inputing the name of your domain, instead of an IP address. By default, the application will update the IP address using heartbeats (or update/keep-alive packages) automatically, but you can set a timer for this as well.
After you have installed the client and registered a domain, you will probably not even notice the application is running, and that is the idea. It runs from the system tray area and you can access it at any time. From the window that pops-up when you double click the tray icon, you can access statistics and logs and even configure the client. DNS2Go's main features have to do with providing a name for your IP address, but the service can also be used for e-mail forwarding and remote access. In fact, a VNC server can be optionally installed along with the DNS2Go client to provide easy remote control capabilities. The VNC solution is Real VNC's.
The application itself is free, but the domain services are paid. You have a free 30 day trial and you can register trial domains as well.
