Daylight is a very interesting app that displays a world map of sunlight. The program includes every country in the world and you can see the areas where the sun is shinning at any time. The application shows the sunlight terminator as well. The terminator is the line that divides the lit and dark areas. By default, the application displays the sunlight patterns for your current time. But you can advance or go back in increments of 1 hour, day, week or even month. When you do that, you will observe how different the illuminated areas look during the year. The app can also download cloud information and display clouds in their current position.
There are two particular features that I like a lot. First, you can turn this windowed app into a full-screen desktop wallpaper. I don't know if the wallpaper is dynamic like the application. I mean dynamic because the app will display changes in real-time when set to do so. In full-screen mode, the world map looks astounding and it makes for a great and original wallpaper. The other feature that I like is that you can check information on specific locations around the world. The information includes location of the city, local time, dawn, sunrise, sunset and dusk times and time zone.
