Compact Dictionary 1.0.1

Compact Dictionary is a very complete English-Spanish dictionary. It provides you with a considerable number of translations for all kinds of words. According to the developer's description, there are 359,000 entries in the dictionary, which isn't bad at all. Each word shows a category, translations and synonyms. There are also pronunciations and a spell suggestions, which require an Internet connection. The pronunciations are available in Spanish and English and there are different voices that you can choose from. I have to say that both the English and Spanish pronunciations sound very well and were possibly recorded by native speakers.

The dictionary window consists of two panes and a toolbar. The little, grey pane on the left is where words (entries) will be listed. You can manually browse those. When you click on a word, you will see its definition on the right pane. At the top, on the toolbar, you can change the language, access the pronunciations and other application settings. There is a search field that lets you find words more easily. You can also access your word search history and add words to a list of favorites.
