CMI V is a musical tool from the Arturia V collection, that integrates a virtual representation of a Fairlight CMI, a digital synthesizer, sampler, and digital audio workstation introduced in 1979.
Aesthetically, CMI V has a realistic interface, with a beautifully designed piano, a typewriter, and a controller, along with smooth animations. Yet, the menu font text could've been bigger, and some font customizations could've been included.
As per its functionalities, the program comes with a variable Bit Depth and Sample Rate and it integrates 24 sources of modulations per track to apply to all 'Control' parameters.
Furthermore, it includes 600 samples from the original CMI library and 360 presets sounds. The software synthesizer can be played through a MIDI keyboard and the number of tracks can be expended to 10 with a polyphony per track up to 32.
Not to forget, it also embeds a classic 'page-R' inspired 32-step sequencer along with high-quality effects.
Briefly said, CMI V represents an effective way to include the sounds of a Fairlight synthesizer into your musical creations.
