We all need breaks when working at the computer but most of us forget to take them. This is Breaker’s purpose, to remind us that we need to take a break. It has two timers: one for the working time and one for the break time. Once the working timer finishes counting, the break timer starts (after you close the alarm window). The timers can be looped any number of times.

Although the idea is simple, it should not be underestimated. Developing the discipline to take a break every 50 minutes or so (or any time you’re comfortable with) has a positive impact on health and productivity.

This program is as simple as the idea behind it and it’s professionally executed. It’s preconfigured with a working time of 50 minutes and a break of 10 minutes. This can be freely adjusted.

When any of the two timers finishes counting, an alarm alerts the user with a visual message and a sound. The alarm sound is discrete but if you don’t like it, you can change it to anything you like by going to the program options.

By default, timers are hidden but you can view them whenever you want to by hovering your mouse cursor over the system tray icon. You can also change the setting so the timers are always visible.

Overall, this is a simple, effective and useful utility. It also has the advantage of being free.
