iSurf BrainView is a Mac application created for medical students and teachers who wish to analyze the components of the human brain on their computers. This utility comes with a straightforward interface, provides you with brain MRI images, and lets you choose from various display modes.
After you choose the preferred representation angle (lateral, top or front side of the human skull), you can start clicking over any area of the MRI image and the app will reveal the name of the brain component on the bottom side of its interface. Furthermore, if you enable the color representation option and click over a brain segment, the program will colorize the entire area of the selected brain component.
There's also a bar on the bottom side of the main window where you can adjust the depth level of the MRI representation.
My only concern regarding this program is the fact that it doesn't provide you with an option to rotate MRI images at other angles than the ones available. It offers you only three types of representations: lateral, front, and top side of the human head. Other applications, which are also free of charge, give you access to a more detailed look at the human brain.
Nonetheless, if you're confident that this app will help you with your study, you should install it on your Mac. iSurf BrainView is free of charge so you have nothing to lose.
