BrainCard is a simple application designed for Mac users who wish to learn the meaning of foreign words with minimum effort. This program helps you translate French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese words to English, is very easy to handle, and sits quietly on your Menu Bar without using a large amount of CPU resources.
You transcribe foreign words by opting for one of the following methods: select the word and drag it over the black area from the screen (the app's window) or use the Take A Picture Of The Word feature from the main menu of the tool. Personally, I prefer the picture-based procedure as it takes less time to achieve the final goal.
The only thing that bothers me about working with this application is the fact that it's incapable of translating entire phrases or even expressions. You can transcribe only word by word to English language.
Furthermore, the app could use some extra support for other foreign languages like Dutch, German, Greek, Hindi, and many other.
As a conclusion, BrainCard proves to be a reliable solution when it comes to translating words to English. The program immediately offers you the answers you require, has a nicely designed interface, and is free of charge.
