BMI stands for “Body Mass Index” and BMR for “Basal Metabolic Rate”. The body mass index is pretty popular these days and it’s basically a number that tells if you’re underweight, overweight or normal. The basal metabolic rate is the number of calories that your body needs each day (excluding any physical activity). This application calculates both of these numbers, helping you to maintain a healthy diet.
The program is very easy to use because everything in the interface is self-explanatory.
BMI is easily calculated requiring you to fill in just two numbers: your weight and your height. BMR requires two more things: sex and activity (exercise) level.
When you first open the calculator, if you’re not familiarized with the imperial measuring system, you can switch to the metric one (you’ll find the option in the top-right corner).
Even though you can find these types of calculators everywhere on the internet, it’s useful to have such an application installed on your computer for obvious reasons: you don’t need to be online to use it, it works faster, it’s always there. On top of all that, it’s free.
