v2.4
Dedicated to perfect audio reproduction this new version of Black Omega has been reengineered and tested to ensure the highest level of audio reproduction; by an audiophile for audiophiles. Black Omega is capable of playing the most demanding high quality audiophile tracks on any DAC. e.g. Playback of a 5.1 surround FLAC at 384kHz using 32-bit integer samples.
Black Omega now supports Integer playback mode for MacOS. In Exclusive Integer playback mode samples are delivered to the output DAC using the DAC’s native integer sample format. Traditionally, MacOS uses a 32-bit floating point representation for each audio sample internally. This conversion can lead to a loss of audio information from the original, particularly for 24-bit and 32-bit integer samples, when writing to the output DAC. By writing the samples to the DAC using their original integer format ensures that this potential for loss of audio information does not happen in playback of the original.
Additionally Black Omega now represents all samples using 64-bit double precision. From codec, to digital filter and through to audio output all sample calculations are done using 64-bit double precision to ensure the highest possible numerical accuracy. Black Omega is unique in that each of the various supported codecs were developed in-house. Because of this each of these codecs have been reworked to all use 64-bit double precision samples internally ensuring the most accurate reproduction available.
A new smart engine that matches a given DAC’s reproductive capabilities versus the output format of the original audio file has been developed. e.g. Given a 5.1 surround FLAC at 384kHz and 32-bit sample depth will be appropriately down mixed and resampled when asked to playback through a stereo DAC only capable of 48kHz with using a 24-bit sample.
