Albert Barnes was an American theologist and Presbyterian Minister born in New York in 1798. He is the author of the well-known commentary named Notes to the New Testament, about which it is said that have sold several millions of copies. The main merit of this work is the fact that it puts the findings and conclusions of other authors in a comprehensible, easy-to-understand language. Barnes died in 1870 at the age of 72.
