BattleForge is a game that tries to bring several genres into one game. In a nutshell, BattleForge is a card-based Real-Time strategy game, with a special focus in online game-play. First of all, the storyline of the game starts really well. The players are Skylords, immortals that dwell in the "Forge", a floating fortress. You as an Immortal intervene in the world below to complete an objective. However, from here on, the storyline isn't very structured; you may loose track of what is going on. The focus of this game is online, so any mission you play in single-player has to be online. This is a card game, so you start with a basic deck, and during the missions you collect more cards. Obviously, the cards have different powers. The main innovative element of the game is the micro-transactions. You can trade, buy, or win cards from other players. You can alternatively buy cards online from the EA store. There are so many genres and elements stuck together in one game. Although the idea sounds good on paper, it doesn't feel that good in the game. This may be a good addition to any card-player fan, but others may want to steer clear of this one.
