iTunes is one of the most popular media players today. It allows you to play music and videos, acquire media files, and much more. Being as feature-rich as it is, this media player lacks a very important attribute: an easy way to control the iTunes player without leaving the window you're working in. For this reason, apps like Bartunes were created: to help you control the music you play using iTunes with minimum effort.
This utility sits on your Menu Bar from where you can control the music being played in iTunes. You won't have the ability to define global hotkeys for changing tunes. However, you will be able to switch songs by clicking over the preferred options from the main menu of the Bartunes app. These options include the ability to stop, resume, play next or previous song.
You can also enable the artwork feature which places the song's picture on your Menu Bar. Furthermore, the Menubar Controls option places an additional panel on your status bar that shows the Play/Pause, Play Next, and Play Previous buttons.
All in all, you can find dozens of Mac apps to help you control the music being played in the iTunes program. The thing that makes Bartunes a right choice is that it provides you with simple-to-configure settings and comes without a price tag. This is why I think Bartunes would be a smart addition to your collection of Mac applications.
