Backup Key Recovery is a program designed by Nsasoft. The idea of this application is to be able to retrieve the keys of most of the best-known software products in case your computer suffers a catastrophic hard drive crash. It is suggested to retrieve the crashed hard disc, connect it to a computer with Backup Key Recovery installed, go to the registry folder and then restore the files. This idea has its merits, as keys in installation CDs can be lost (not a responsible thing to do, but it can happen), and some downloaded software tools do not come with a key retrieval process.
The software is very easy to use - you just have to go to the folder where the registry files are located and click on the "Software" file. This will list in the window all the identifiable keys, where you can easily save or copy them. However, there is a big flaw here - if you regularly make backups of your registry in a .reg file, and you want to use this backup file instead, the program will not recognize it. Leaving this flaw aside, the program works fine. You can even export the registry into different file formats and the program will read them flawlessly. Finally, the price tag is a small one to pay if you have lost all your other keys.
