AVS Audio Recorder is a free recording tool that lets you capture sound from a variety of sources. It can be used to record audio from the line-in, microphone, audio CD, and also to save podcasts and online streaming, Skype calls, and just about any sound that comes from the sound card.
The application has a compact interface that looks clean and is easy to work with. All you actually need to do is choose the input device and the recording format; it can be MP3, WMA, and WAV. For each of these formats there is a default audio quality that cannot be modified. Among other features, it is possible to adjust the volume level of the recording, and also set the program to name your files automatically with the current date and time.
The recorded audio files will be listed on the main screen and from there you can rename them, check the file information, and even edit or convert them to other formats provided that you have installed the AVS Audio Editor that is optional with this application.
AVS Audio Recorded works very well and files recorded with it played great. It does seem a bit too simple compared to other tools of the kind, which let you modify the audio quality of your recordings or allow you to schedule recording tasks. Other than that, it works pretty well and is ideal for those who need to record audio once in a while.
