Asticones provides you with a quick and simple way of exploring icon files on your computer. In addition to this, users will also be able to export selected icons as image files or erase them altogether. For navigation purposes, the application includes a hierarchical view of all disk folders, similar to the one in Finder.
Asticones may be used as an image viewer; however whenever dealing with a large number of files, the utility takes a long time to generate and display the image thumbnails. Even so, folders are not parsed recursively; the application only displays the thumbnails of the files present in the currently selected directory.
An important program feature is the ability to export selected icons in the ICNS and TIFF formats. This also works for different formats like PNG, GIF, BMP and JPG. Using the Finder, users can assign the icon of a file (drag-and-drop from Finder into Ascitones) to another file.
In terms of management capabilities, the utility offers very few features; I was able to browse freely to the location of my icon collection but not perform any action like arranging or transferring them. Asticones makes for a simple and effective icon viewer but sadly nothing more.
