Asterisk Password Decryptor is a simple, neat and handy tool meant to help you recover lost or forgotten passwords. It does that by displaying the passwords that are hidden under a string of asterisks within the forms and dialog boxes of various applications or websites. Performing this action is easy: just drag the magnifying glass from the app’s interface onto the form containing the asterisks that hide a password. If that form is correctly detected by the app, the magnifying glass will turn into a key and the password behind the asterisks will be shown in the app’s interface.
In terms of reliability, Asterisk Password Decryptor disappointed me a little, as it failed to identify quite a lot of password-containing dialog boxes, which rendered revealing the hidden passwords impossible. It eventually worked with some of these forms, but in order to avoid any unpleasant similar situations, I recommend you to try the free version of this tool first and see if it properly detects the forms containing the hidden passwords that you need to reveal. Then you can safely purchase its full version.
Anyway, this doesn’t mean you should completely ignore this tool. I recommend giving it a try, as it can recover passwords from a lot of applications including FTP clients and e-mail clients. It’s also really easy-to-use, neat, and lightweight.
