Around the World in 80 Days is an enjoyable puzzle game based on the Jules Verne novel with the same name. In this game you will travel to different parts of the world playing match-3 games. Your job is to swap adjacent items in order to align three or more of the same type and make them disappear from the board. The goal of every stage will be to get all the time pieces to the bottom of the board by making matches with the items that are below them. If you make matches of four or more items, you can recharge some power-ups and finish the levels faster. There are also bonus items, like extra life, more time, more money, that you can get in the same way you get the item pieces. A level is completed when you have uncovered the whole stamp of a place.
As you play the game, you will know more about the story behind the game, but you can also skip those parts, if you are not interested. All the levels are timed, so you need to complete the levels as quickly as possible. As you unlock the different countries in the game, you will be able to use them as screensaver. Unfortunately, the game offers only one mode, one difficulty level, and no achievements. Graphics leave a lot to be desired, especially when the game is played in full screen. Sounds are simple and the music is suitable, although a bit repetitive.
To conclude, if you have read the novel, you should definitely try Around the World in 80 Days to see if it works for you.
