Arena Breakout is a free-to-play action game from Tencent Games. This realistic first-person shooter (FPS) for mobile balances fast-paced movement with tactical gameplay. Touted as an unofficial mobile remake of the PC game Escape from Tarkov, it adopts a layered survival aspect on top of the militaristic action—such as having hunger and injury mechanics.

With top-tier graphics and a lot of complex gameplay mechanisms, Arena Breakout is a definite must-try for players who need a much more challenging experience for mobile. Be warned, it’s a lot different from other FPS games like Call of Duty: Mobile or PUBG Mobile.

An immersive, complex RPG

Also, a lot of its features share glaring similarities with Escape from Tarkov. Aside from the game mechanics mentioned before being inspired by—or directly lifted from—the Battlestate Games’ hit title, its servers remain a bit bumpy. There’s no sorting of players by level, leaving new players at the mercy of experienced players and griefers. It’s worse when you realize that some items are dropped when you die.

After long testing periods and soft launches in select parts of the globe, Arena Breakout has finally been officially released worldwide. The launch comes packed with exciting events for both new and long-term players, including Air Drop Incoming, Weekend Warrior, 7-Day Login Bundle, and Advanced Challenge. As for returning players who have taken part in the global beta testing, they can log in and reap their Returner Rewards within a specific time frame.

Overall, Arena Breakout is a great must-have for modern mobile devices. Marketed as the unofficial mobile port of Escape from Tarkov, plus being made by Tencent, this is as good as mobile RPGs get. However, note that it has a notoriously challenging curve, both in learning the game and making it through. You enjoy massive customization and complex survival while pitted against players of different skill levels.
