AnimalKingdom is a lovely Chinese board game similar to chess in which you have several animals and the objective is to reach the opponent's first row. The animals can move in different directions, but only one position at a time. If you face an opponent's animal, which is smaller and less powerful than you, you can eat it and take its place on the board. The animals include snake, lion, tiger, sheep, dog, bull, mouse and elephant. All the animals have a number next to their names which indicates their power in the animal kingdom, so the animal with number 5, for instance, can eat all the animals with numbers below five.
The game offers two modes: Single play (you play against a computer opponent) and Dual play (you play against a friend locally or over the network). Sadly, the game offers no instruction, so I had to figure out how to play by myself. The game offers lovely graphics in 3D with nice animal figures, simple sounds, and pleasant Chinese music.
In short, if you are looking for an enjoyable and original game to pass the time and keep your mind busy, AnimalKingdom may be a good choice.
