Servant Salamander is a convenient file manager suitable for Windows 95/98/NT4/2000/XP/Win7. Similar to the Norton Commander it is small, fast and user friendly. There is an option that allows you to browse network drives without the need of mapping them.
The interface consists of two independent panels with directory listings, which are always up to date. The program is also capable of viewing the contents of files (text, html, over 40 picture formats, mp3 etc.). The size of the files isn’t a problem for this software: the internal viewer can cope with files of up to 2 GB size with text and hex modes. Even files of 4 GB size are not a setback for it.
The file and directory search is very fast thanks to the user menu for all selected files and directories. Internal support is also provided for ZIP, RAR, ARJ, CAB, ACE, TAR/GZIP archives and for creating self-extracting archives.
The price offered for the program is not so acceptable for that kind of software, because there are also similar programs on the market that are free, such as Total Commander and others, which are completely free.
