Alaris is a free role-playing game set in a fantasy world with a dark secret that you must unfold while romancing one of six love interests. This visual novel from Crescence Studio contains over 60,000 words of content as well as a number of different endings.
Alaris is similar to games like Cinderella Phenomenon, where each of your choices can greatly affect how the story plays out. This game currently has a demo version and is still under development so more content will be released over time. Moreover, the game contains some mature content.
With more than 150 choices to make in Alaris, you can end up with one of the six different character endings available. These endings will depend on the character traits you choose to work on and how your personality develops. You will also be able to customize your character’s name and pronouns so that you feel like you’re part of the story.
The story is packed with intricate lore that you will have to uncover over time. Thanks to the user-friendly interface, you will be able to look back on important information by opening the codex, which is placed in plain view. This codex also contains detailed information on the different characters so you will be able to learn more about each of them.
One issue that reappears with the game, however, is that it crashes quite often on some devices. A workaround for this would be to redownload the game files and turn off any antivirus software you have running. There is also an issue with some choices displaying errors, which blocks you from continuing the story. You can also troubleshoot this by switching to another option.
There are still some bug issues that make Alaris crash or hinder you from choosing a specific option, but given that it is still under development, there’s still room for it to grow. This demo already shows a great amount of potential with its fascinating story and unique route map, which is affected by your character’s temperament. With a few tweaks, it’s sure to become a well-loved game.
