Aiseesoft iPod to Mac Transfer Ultimate is a utility that lets you transfer content from your iPod and other supported iOS devices back to your Mac. There are many uses for this app. Personally, I would use it to transfer music to a computer other than my main Mac (as you may know, you can't just sync your device with any computer with iTunes). Backup purposes also come to mind as a potential use. I tested this app with an iPhone 4, which for some reason I can't sync with iTunes. This application detected it just fine and it let me transfer content without any problems.

There are two versions of this app: Ultimate and Standard. Both are limited to transfers from the iOS device to your Mac, and the Standard version further limits the types of content that you can transfer. The Ultimate version lets you transfer music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, iTunes U content, ePUB, PDF and Audio books, voice memos, camera shots, SMS messages and contact information.

The first thing that you see when you launch the app is a short summary of your device that includes its name, type of device, version, capacity and free space. The pane on the left shows all the connected devices and the types of files that you can transfer. When you click on a category, the right pane will display all the files stored on your device. You can simply check those that you want to transfer and then click on "Transfer" to copy them back to your Mac.
