Aiseesoft iPhone to Mac Transfer lets you backup your iPhone. It is an app that you can use to see the data that you have on your iPhone and then copy it back to your Mac. The good thing about this app, and other apps like this, is that you don't have to use iTunes to sync your device just to copy a song to your hard drive. Also, other devices, including the iPad and iPod touch, will probably work with this app.
The main window shows a brief summary of your iOS device. The app will tell you the type of device that you have connected, its capacity, version, serial number and format. There is also a bar at the bottom that shows the used and free space and how much space is used by audio, video, pictures, and other data. On the left, you will see your device, and five buttons underneath it: music, video, picture, ringtone, and purchased. If you click on "Music", for example, you will see all the songs that you have on your device. And by simply selecting an item and clicking on "iPhone to Mac", you will be able to copy that song to your hard drive. Or you can send it straight to iTunes if you want, which is really useful when you need to restore your iTunes library.
All in all, this app works well, but it is missing an audio player and the ability to put content on the iOS device, which is a feature commonly found in competing apps.
