AirSnare is a network privacy and monitoring tool. It allows you to monitor traffic of your local area network and see who is connected. The application uses your network card to monitor your subnet and determine who is connected to it, and it shows you some information about those connections. Apparently, the designer wrote this application to keep track of users' MAC addresses. There are two lists: Friendly MAC Addresses and Unfriendly MAC addresses. You can add any of the MAC addresses that AirSnare finds to any of those categories. By default, results are added to the Unfriendly list, until you decide to "trust" an address.
Airsnare installs a few applications, like Ethereal, during the installation process. Those are used for the analysis of the traffic monitored. It should be mentioned that Airsnare will not work on any network card. It is a bit picky on what cards it will work with. The reason is that some cards are not good at monitoring network packets. Airsnare can monitor TCP, UDP, and MAC traffic. There is an option to send messages to other computers on your LAN, but I couldn't get it to work.
