Manage all your storage devices and the partitions they contain be creating new logical drives, managing the data stored on them, deleting files and directories or entire partitions, performing partial formatting, assigning names, etc. the utility does not require a computer reboot.

Active@ Partition Manager is intended to carry out various operations related to disk partitioning. Fortunately, the program can recognize partitions formatted with most file systems, including FAT, NTFS, exFAT, ReFS, HFS+, Ext2/Ext3/Ext4, BtrFS, UFS, XFS and JFS. It has a straightforward interface, in which the current status of your disks, as well as the changes you make, can be easily visualized. It also lets you view advanced properties and attributes of a partition, logical drive or hard drive. I am glad that there are wizards to help you find your way when you are creating partitions and disk images. Since messing with your disks can be somewhat dangerous, this is a tool I would not recommend to inexperienced users, though.

The program supports such operations as creating a partition or logical drive, which you can also mark as active. Likewise, it can be used to format partitions as FAT, exFAT, and NTFS. This has the advantage of allowing the creation of FAT32 partitions of up to 1 terabyte. Moreover, it can format Flash memories as NTFS and even divide the available storage space into various partitions. It is excellent news as well that the tool can change the way partition information is stored on a drive. Thus, it can convert between MBR and GPT, according to your specific needs. Similarly, it can edit and synchronize the boot sectors of FAT, exFAT, NTFS, UFS, HFS+, Ext2/Ext3/Ext4 and Partition Table.

Besides creating new partitions and formatting drives, Active@ Partition Manager also supports resizing partitions and changing their attributes (such as drive letter and label). Similarly, it can erase a logical drive or a partition. Finally, it is good to know that some types of changes, such as creating, deleting and formatting partitions as well as initializing a disk can be reverted if anything goes wrong.

To conclude, Active@ Partition Manager supports practically all basic drive partitioning operations. It is, in this sense, a good substitute for Windows disk management built-in tool. Yet, it still may lack some of the features you can find in more sophisticated programs of this type. Active@ Partition Manager is freeware, so you have nothing to lose if you give it a try. You should also know that it is available as a component of Active@ Boot Disk or a module of Active@ UNDELETE - advanced data recovery toolbox.
