A-Cownts is a new and first application that MacHouse has developed. What is it? A-Cownts offers you a quick way of saving and maintaining accounts. And it's a freeware title for both Mac and Windows users.
We really like a shareware title called PasswordMaster which also allows users to store accounts. But it's old, and nobody maintains it any more. It's not in Universal Binary. There are a lot of minor problems, too, like no support for the contextual menu and 2-byte characters like Chinese and Japanese...
A-Cownts works just like PasswordMaster. This freeware version comes with three built-in tabs under which you can store accounts for different purposes. Of course, you can customize tab labels quick and easy.
A-Cownts stores every single piece of information in a single file labeled acownts.acw, which can be easily crack-opened with text-editors including TextEdit. But that doesn't mean data are human-readable. A-Cownts uses an encryption method with a key that has 2.078218990239605e 63 different combinations, which means it is impossible for anyone to decrypt data in their lifetime and next. Also, A-Cownts lets you set a login password so that nobody else can open and see your account list.
